All bare wire communications posts
Communications Connection Nuts

The purpose of this Caution Bulletin is to alert  all end users and owners of any Diving Systems International Kirby Morgan Deep Sea Diving Equipment with bare wire post communications to a potential corrosion problem with the communications connections nuts, DSI part # 530-308

A number of gold plated ferrous metal nuts have recently been shipped in place of our standard gold plated brass nuts. These nuts will corrode in time, especially in heavy salt water use.

Bulletin #1 of 1999

Diving Systems recommends that if you are currently using bare wire post communications that you remove the connection nuts and test them by touching them to a magnet. If they stick to the magnet, they are the wrong part. They will be replaced free of charge by your nearest authorized Diving Systems Dealer.

Before every dive,  your equipment should be completely checked for any damage or wear. Even normal wear & aging will eventually result in the need to replace parts. Any abnormal condition of any component requires the removal and replacement of the component.
