Corrected the orientation of the adapter in the BlowApart image.
Updated layout.
Added one way valve check sections.
Updated text in step three of section 1.1.2 Reassembly of the One Way Valve to reflect correct order that the wiper and O-ring goes on.
Replaced, “Either the emergency or the free flow valve must be open when performing the test” with, “The free flow valve must be open when performing the test.”
Updated the cross references to the torque specs due to the splitting of APNDX into three separate modules.
Updated layout.
Updated icons throughout. Added video link to section 1.1.3 One Way Valve Check. Added section 1.1.3.3 Hand-Operated Vacuum-Type Pump One Way Valve Check.
1.1 One Way Valve
The annual maintenance note was revised to include replacement of the wiper and spring in addition to the three O-rings during annual service. The previous revision only specified replacement of the three O-rings.
The caution regarding tool use was expanded. The previous revision warned that pliers may damage the valve if used on the main body. The revised caution clarifies that using pliers may damage the valve body, compromise sealing surfaces, and result in improper operation.
1.1.1 Disassembly Of The One Way Valve
The disassembly procedure and required tools were revised.
Tool requirements changed from:
Soft jaw vise
1" open end wrench attachment on torque wrench
to:
Two 1" open end wrenches.
The disassembly sequence was also modified. The previous revision required removing the one way valve from the side block before loosening the seat. The revised procedure instructs loosening the seat while the valve remains secured to the side block, followed by removal of the valve body from the side block.
Additional steps were added to explicitly describe removal of the seat, poppet and poppet O-ring, and the O-ring and wiper from the seat.
Cleaning and inspection instructions were simplified by removing the reference to acidic corrosion cleaning procedures and instead directing cleaning in accordance with KMDSI cleaning instructions.
1.1.2 Reassembly of the One Way Valve
The reassembly procedure was expanded and reorganized.
A new assembly note was added instructing technicians to assemble the valve body vertically over the seat to ensure the spring remains properly positioned.
Additional explicit assembly steps were introduced including installation of the wiper, installation and lubrication of the seat O-ring, installation of the poppet O-ring without lubricant, insertion of the poppet into the seat, placement of the spring on the poppet, lubrication of the internal threads of the valve body, threading the valve body onto the seat, installation of the valve body O-ring, and installation of the valve assembly into the side block.
A new instruction clarifies lubrication requirements by specifying that the poppet O-ring is installed without lubricant.
The installation procedure also adds a new step for applying Teflon® tape to the adapter, including guidance on wrap placement and number of wraps.
Torque instructions were clarified to indicate that the seat is torqued to the valve body first, followed by torquing the valve body to the side block.
